As your trusted safety partner, we at HIROC are always at the ready to support the HIROC community and our healthcare system with our many valued resources, tools, educational opportunities and events.

More recently, the team at HIROC had yet another idea on how we can partner to impact safety.

The results are in for HIROC’s 2023 Safety Grants Program!

The Safety Grants Program is an annual initiative supported by The HIROC Foundation aiming to promote the need for greater agility and knowledge sharing in healthcare by funding HIROC Subscribers’ innovative research and projects that drive healthcare safety.

At this year’s Ottawa Patient Safety Conference, put on by The Ottawa Hospital (TOH), we had the opportunity to connect with the TOH team who support safety and innovation at the organization.

In addition to hearing about current projects on the go, we also learned how the culture of innovation is embedded across the organization and offers up an opportunity for anyone to drive change.

Recently, we were fortunate to hear about an initiative to combat racism and system oppression. 

It was being led by Claire Ramlogan-Salanga and Natasha Singleton-Bassaragh, and their goal was to support the IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Colour) Midwifery community.

We had a chance to chat with them at the annual Canadian Association of Midwives Conference.

HIROC was delighted to support and attend the recent National Healthcare Finance Conference brought to the community by Spark Conferences. The event brought together finance professionals from across our healthcare sector to explore the trends and challenges many organizations face today.

Third parties that access your systems, infrastructure or data add an additional layer to your organization’s risk profile and can ultimately be a source of compromise or significant operational impact. Failure to properly vet or manage these third parties can undermine an organization’s security and data protection programs. It is critical that you have strategies and procedures in place to minimize the risks posed by your vendors, partners, and third-party service providers.

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of joining my fellow cybersecurity professionals at the Ontario Cyber Security Conference, focused on Strengthening Ontario’s Broader Public Sector, including the healthcare sector.

We at HIROC had a chance to hear from various cybersecurity leaders and knowledge experts.

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Shahbaz Haque to the position of Vice President, Insurance Services, at HIROC.
