The results are in for HIROC’s 2023 Safety Grants Program!

The Safety Grants Program is an annual initiative supported by The HIROC Foundation aiming to promote the need for greater agility and knowledge sharing in healthcare by funding HIROC Subscribers’ innovative research and projects that drive healthcare safety.

At this year’s Ottawa Patient Safety Conference, put on by The Ottawa Hospital (TOH), we had the opportunity to connect with the TOH team who support safety and innovation at the organization.

In addition to hearing about current projects on the go, we also learned how the culture of innovation is embedded across the organization and offers up an opportunity for anyone to drive change.

Midwives Leading the Way

Recently, we were fortunate to hear about an initiative to combat racism and system oppression. 

It was being led by Claire Ramlogan-Salanga and Natasha Singleton-Bassaragh, and their goal was to support the IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Colour) Midwifery community.

We had a chance to chat with them at the annual Canadian Association of Midwives Conference.

Understanding Vendor Management and Your Third-Party Risks

Third parties that access your systems, infrastructure or data add an additional layer to your organization’s risk profile and can ultimately be a source of compromise or significant operational impact. Failure to properly vet or manage these third parties can undermine an organization’s security and data protection programs. It is critical that you have strategies and procedures in place to minimize the risks posed by your vendors, partners, and third-party service providers.
