The Importance of Early Reporting - We're Here For You!

We sat down with HIROC’s Claims Team to spotlight the value of the early reporting process.

Why is early reporting important?

Reporting early allows the team at HIROC to become involved at the outset. It gives us the opportunity to investigate and interview staff involved in care while information is fresh, and who may not be with the organization years later.

“Driving safety action through identifying and prioritizing risk with the wide variety of existing HIROC tools and sharing learnings from past Safety Grants winners and Applied Safety Projects helps our healthcare systems explore uncertainty, prioritize risk, and, ultimately, improve patient safety and experience.” – Trevor Hall, HIROC VP, Healthcare Safety and Risk Management.

Practical Risk Considerations for the Total Solar Eclipse

On April 8, 2024, in the afternoon and early evening, part of Eastern Canada will experience a total solar eclipse. The impact of the total solar eclipse will vary by geographical location (Government of Canada, 2024).

The eclipse path of totality is expected to pass through several cities in Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. This may mean total darkness for a few minutes for areas in the eclipse path.
