Summary

The Data Analyst plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and availability of HIROC’s data. They lead the implementation of data quality policies and practices to ensure HIROC’s data is secure, accurate, and well maintained. The Data Analyst has broad and deep relationships with business stakeholders and data stewards, enabling them to understand and anticipate the data requirements of HIROC’s staff and subscribers, and supports the end-to-end data lifecycle to ensure those needs are met or exceeded.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality data assets are consistently available to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand the different business requirements for data across HIROC’s departments (finance, insurance operations, claims, IT, risk management, legal, human resources).
  • Lead the advancement and adoption of a data quality assurance framework, including documentation, methods, and tools.
  • Provide input into strategic and operational planning for HIROC’s data management practices.
  • Perform data profiling and partner with data owners and stewards to maintain robust metadata.
  • Ensure data assets at HIROC are managed in a secure manner, adhering to security and privacy requirements.
  • Keep current with trends and issues within the data management space, adapting and transforming HIROC’s processes and technologies to support further business growth and opportunities.
  • Assess and review new technology opportunities related to data quality and how these impact HIROC’s data management operations.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of relational databases, data warehouses, and data structures.
  • Advanced proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Strong knowledge of data management fundamentals and data governance principles.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience with data quality assurance testing principles.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency with test automation tools and approaches is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data management maturity models is a plus, e.g., CMMI-DMM, DAMA-DMBOK.
  • Experience with data governance platforms is a plus, e.g., Microsoft Purview.
  • Excellent task management skills, well organized and able to meet deadlines, scheduling.
  • Healthcare and/or insurance industry experience is preferred.
     

Education, Training & Experience 

  • To be successful in this role, you will possess a university degree in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related data-driven discipline.
  • Most importantly, you are an enthusiastic and creative thinker, who is constantly driving performance improvement and are passionate about creating the safest health care system possible for Canadians.
