The Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) is a trusted healthcare safety advisor, committed to offering a full spectrum of insurance, risk and claims management products and support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Internal Communications

  • Support the company Intranet site – pitch content and engagement strategies, interview subjects, take photos, write articles, and post materials to the site
  • Support ordering of internal supplies and promotional materials to ensure availability for corporate initiatives
  • Respond to staff requests for communications and marketing departmental support – i.e., print and digital materials (ads, brochures, etc.) and conference support
  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Team on internal communications initiatives, social media, and events
  • Collaborate with the Executive Office to support any ad hoc tasks or initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Digital Communications

  • Use a variety of digital tactics to promote and increase brand awareness to our target audience; stay on top of new communication channels to reach and grow audience
  • Make changes to the company website that reflect our brand and work with internal stakeholders on developing meaningful web content
  • Promote HIROC’s products and services through social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.), speaking engagements, online events, conferences and other special events
  • Take lead on setting up and execution of HIROC virtual events (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
  • Use a variety of tools to communicate information to employees and Subscribers (i.e., video and social media)
  • Use analytics to monitor client and staff engagement with our digital channels, including event management analytics to report on the success of events
  • Participate as a member of the Communications and Marketing Team in presenting ideas that will grow the brand online
  • Manage e-news blasts to clients through MailChimp, in addition to leveraging HIROC’s CRM tool
  • Manage digital marketing of events, new program launches and campaigns, developing communications plans to support
  • Monitor and respond to stakeholder feedback on the website
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry trends, presenting to and educating colleagues and on the latest tools, technologies and strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

Marketing Projects

  • Play a key role in educating staff and ensuring compliance with brand guidelines; develop materials (i.e., videos, manuals), that assist staff in using and understanding the brand guidelines
  • Attend meetings, workshops, conferences so to capture content for articles, videos, and socials.
  • Support new media activities – HIROC podcasts, LinkedIn Lives, Streamyard, Vidyard, and other evolving formats to share stories and convey HIROC’s leadership role in the healthcare system – assist team in sourcing content, speakers and hosting activities
  • Develop creative concepts and collaborate with other departments, including marketing, on the direction, development and distribution of content for new marketing/communications (marcom) vehicles, including writing or editing copy and working with designers on design approach to brochures, newsletters, social content, promotional materials, templates, advertisements and conference materials
  • Follow production and timelines of marcom projects including liaising with suppliers (designers, printers) to ensure high design standards, adherence to HIROC brand guidelines and delivery of product that is reflective of HIROC’s business and Subscriber population
  • Source and contribute articles for HIROC publications: HIROC.com, LinkedIn, Annual Review, etc.
  • Develop new avenues for contact with Subscribers in ways that promote HIROC’s value-add services and invite collaboration and sharing between Subscriber and partner organizations
  • Collaborate with other HIROC departments on finding ways to build connections with Subscribers and partners in new and growing sectors of the healthcare community
  • Assist with communications and marketing components of annual HIROC Conference and AGM
  • Together with the team, be an effective ‘ambassador’ for HIROC by attending events and building relationships with existing and potential Subscribers
  • Build Subscriber and partner contacts and maintain communications with those contacts; liaise with HIROC staff for new opportunities and ways to build connections with growing sectors of the healthcare community
  • Oversee organization of the Communications and Marketing storage room, restocking and replenishing as necessary
  • Assist the team in partner events (ex. set-up and tear-down, virtual event coverage, speaking notes, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • At ease dealing with employees inside the organization and stakeholders/suppliers outside the organization
  • Strong interviewing and writing skills, attention to detail; committed to producing quality communications materials
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite of tools, with particular emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint   
  • Desire to learn and willingness to take on new responsibilities
  • Well-organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to exercise discretion and tact in sensitive and confidential situations
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong ability to multitask
     

Education, Training and Experience:

  • University or College diploma (focus on Communications or Marketing would be preferred)
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, CMS (Igloo, MailChimp, Drupal), Photography, Google Analytics, Video Editing
  • Social media experience
  • 5 years of related work experience
