HIROC 2024 Summer Student Spotlight
This summer we continued our annual tradition, and we had the pleasure of welcoming four post-secondary students to HIROC. While joining various departments, these students had the opportunity to leverage knowledge and forge connections with experts at HIROC.
We were amazed to see the combined skills, unique perspectives, and curiosity that these students brought to the table.

What was the highlight of your summer at HIROC?
Ava: A highlight of my summer with HIROC was getting the opportunity to interact directly with Subscriber contacts regarding Third Party Certificates. It was a pleasure reaching out to them and working together to ensure their needs were being met.
Sachin: I enjoyed learning how to use multiple different programs to get tasks done. I found it easier to navigate through my work after understanding how to use these platforms and find them very useful moving forward.
Jacob: The biggest highlight while working at HIROC was teamwork in the workplace. The finance team works very well in a team environment but also works well independently.
Connor: The people who you work alongside makes all the difference. The finance team has been so supportive and fun to work with!
What are you looking forward to this upcoming school year?
Ava: As I approach my third year in the Law & Society and Education program, I am looking forward to my classes that are now more focused and specific to my areas of interest. I can’t wait to dive deeper into the course content to learn and become more specialized in these areas.
Sachin: This upcoming school year, I am very much looking forward to taking brand new courses and starting fresh.
Jacob: I am excited to spend the last school year with friends and graduation!
Connor: I am excited to graduate soon!
What do you like most about HIROC’s culture?
Ava: HIROC has such an amazing culture! The culture of support and wellbeing is present in all my interactions with colleagues and with our Subscribers. It is a lived and practiced culture that resonates with me both at work and in my personal life. I appreciate and use the techniques that we are introduced to through @Trish Tutton’s Mindfulness series and will carry these with me for years to come.
Sachin: What I like most about HIROC's culture is that everyone provides a very safe space to ask questions about work, and it makes it a lot easier to communicate for help when needed!
Jacob: The open and warm culture of HIROC. Everyone is very approachable and easy to talk to, especially when you need help with certain tasks or when looking for something.
Connor: I love how friendly and welcoming people are from the various departments. Always enjoyed the kitchen conversations!
