HIROC appreciates the expertise and valuable insights presented by Justice Goudge in his recently published report to the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care – Medical Liability Review.
The principles HIROC follows, and the innovations the reciprocal has made, were specifically noted and recommended as being beneficial to reducing error and dealing with medical liability claims. As Justice Goudge reports – there is much still to be done, and much which can be done to positively impact the medical malpractice system in Ontario and beyond.
This includes a focus on harm avoidance and reduction, and on appropriate changes to how medical malpractice matters are handled. HIROC is thankful for the opportunity to provide information for Justice Goudge’s review and looks forward to working with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as well as our subscribers, other partners and stakeholders, to address required recommendations.
