Sharing knowledge is a cornerstone of HIROC’s work, so when we see an opportunity to share learnings from our amazing community, we jump at it!

Let’s talk about Hôpital Montfort’s annual Journées Montfort event. Journées Montfort brings the Francophone healthcare community together with a focus on interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, innovation, research, and education. HIROC was proud to be an educational partner of this event.

Hosted by Montfort’s knowledge institute, the Institut du Savoir Montfort, the event aims to help attendees update their clinical knowledge, strengthen interprofessional skills, improve clinical decision-making, and promote continuous improvement. This year’s event featured presentations ranging from improving mental health care to ways of supporting medical students, and also featured interactive workshops.

“To continue delivering high-quality service and patient satisfaction, it is important that healthcare workers are able to access learning and knowledge-sharing opportunities, such as the Journées Montfort. With its interdisciplinary approach and focus on research and collaboration, it provides an invaluable experience for healthcare professionals, both Francophones and Francophiles,” said Marie-Josée Martel, Chair, Hôpital Montfort Board of Directors. Marie-Josée is also a HIROC board member.

Dr. Steve Truong, Emergency Physician at Montfort and Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa, was one of the attendees at this year’s event. Here’s what Dr. Truong had to say about it.

“This was my third time attending Journées Montfort, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. What particularly struck me was the atmosphere of collaboration and openness that prevailed throughout the event. There was a real commitment to excellence in French-language healthcare, rooted in the reality of our community.

In terms of content, the 2025 edition stood out for the diversity and relevance of the topics covered. The conferences on innovation in healthcare, the interprofessional panels, and the interactive clinical workshops offered concrete perspectives that could be immediately applied to practice. I was particularly interested in the conference on the health of marginalized populations.

An event like the Journées Montfort not only allows us to update our knowledge, but also to reflect on the current challenges facing the system. It promotes networking among professionals and strengthens our sense of belonging to a dynamic Francophone community of practice.”

Natalie Ladouceur, Director of Professional Practice at Montfort, also enjoyed attending this year’s event.

“As a nurse for over 33 years, this was my first time participating in the Journées Montfort. What struck me right away was the relaxed and interactive atmosphere, which was conducive to discussion. The well-structured program offered relevant, timely presentations that were easily applicable to various settings, particularly on current issues such as artificial intelligence. Led by recognized experts, these conferences enriched the discussions and reinforced the relevance of the content for our practice.

This event illustrates the importance of innovating and creating spaces for learning together. The Journées Montfort reassures us of the efforts being made to support healthcare professionals and inspire us to go even further in our commitment.”

Journées Montfort will return on April 30 and May 1, 2026, in Ottawa. To learn more about the event, check out the Journées Montfort website.
