HIROC launched Healthcare Change Makers podcast a few years back. Since then, we’ve had the great pleasure of sitting down with 80+ change makers from right across the country who represent a variety of backgrounds – but they all have one thing in common, they are here to support the healthcare system, those around them, and Canadians from every corner of this great country.
We’ve been blown away with the amazing support for the Healthcare Change Makers initiative!
So, this December 3, we’re taking the spotlight to new heights through Change Makers Day.
This day celebrates those in the Canadian healthcare community who envision a safer system and drive meaningful change to bring that vision to life.
Meaningful changes can be made through advocating for innovation, creative problem solving, welcoming partnerships, or working tirelessly on the front line. The definition of a change maker is unique to each person, but they all share one thing in common – their positive impact on the community is everlasting.
Call to Action
This day calls upon us to recognize individuals in our immediate healthcare community who we consider change makers.
- Think about your community (either internally with staff, or externally with patients, families, your board, and community support network).
- From there, use the certificate template provided to recognize an individual or team.
- Snap a picture of you presenting the certificate and share it with us on LinkedIn and Instagram using #ChangeMakersDay2025! Don’t forget to help us amplify, we’ve also provided some great social templates below. Alternatively, you can also email your photos to us at [email protected].

The driving force behind this day is our Healthcare Change Makers podcast, where we hosted over 80 leaders who shared the impact they’re making on patient safety – leaving us inspired.
In every conversation, these change makers have talked about the grit of their team around them – the frontline, patient advisory groups, partners, community, and so much more. It became clear to us that there is an abundance of change makers in our community who deserve recognition and celebration.
