Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Claims (the VP) will provide strategic leadership to HIROC and its subscribers in claims management services, including driving continuous improvement in policies, processes, and practices to enhance overall subscriber experience. The new VP will manage Subscribers claims risks and provide leadership in relation to, loss management, reserves, indemnities, litigation management and expense controls. Analytical by nature, the VP will identify emerging trends and collaborate with senior leadership and subscribers to leverage and facilitate claim reduction initiatives. Leading a team of 15, the VP will as an integral part of HIROC’s executive team, foster partnerships with Subscribers and other key decision makers in the healthcare system, to support improved healthcare in high-risk areas. The VP will coach, mentor, and mobilize the claims team in its continued achievement of key performance objectives.
To be successful in this role, you are a seasoned leader in claims management, ideally related to medical malpractice, commercial, property, liability, and other specialty insurance with over eight years executive experience and a Master’s degree in law, business, or finance or an equivalent and applicable mix of education, experience and expertise and ideally hold a FCIP designation. You have a thorough knowledge of insurance products, contract negotiations, claims practices, financial planning, human resources management, organizational development, and customer service. You are an enthusiastic and creative leader that drives for excellence at a functional, organizational, and system level. You are a superb communicator, with an ability to present compelling business cases on sensitive, complex issues. You are passionate about creating the safest health care system possible for Canadians.
