Key Responsibilities
Lead account operations team, responsible for supporting client-facing insurance interactions
- Manage a team of account executives and account associates responsible for providing support to Subscribers on day-to-day matters such as general queries, contract reviews, policy changes, vendor agreements, etc.
- Assign team members to participate in education presentations and onboarding for subscribers, including RFP’s, committees, and partnership/stewardship reports/meeting.
- Manage day to day client operations, maintain service levels, and create and communicate client engagement strategies.
- Handle subscriber escalations.
- Liaison with other department leads to ensure team members are appropriately trained on coverages, workflows, and processes.
- Lead service operations such as indexing, completing certificates of insurance, and other related tasks.
- Maintain relationships as the point person with key Subscribers that have been assigned.
- Participate in renewal and ongoing file reviews to ensure potential coverage gaps are addressed.
Supervision of Account Operations Staff
- Providing coaching, mentoring, and training to a commercial team to develop their underwriting and service capabilities.
- Assist in the recruitment, mentorship, technical instruction, and guidance of all team members.
- Responsible for talent management including performance appraisals, training, and mentorship.
- Complete regular coaching sessions with all team members including review of performance, objectives, and career development.
Collaboration
- Within the Insurance Services team, work closely with other Leads on strategic projects such as new policy lines, alternate risk transfer programs, coverage enhancements, system updates, emerging trends and process/workflow improvements.
- Collaborate with other departments at HIROC to meet operational and strategic goals.
- Process re-engineer existing workflows and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across the Insurance Services team.
- In collaboration with Lead, Underwriting, facilitate training for the team, as required, to maintain underwriting quality to ensure accuracy and consistency with HIROC’s rating methodology and data quality.
- Maintain relationships within the broader insurance industry.
New Business
- Lead the end-to-end new business process at HIROC, including prospecting, information gathering, gathering quotes, proposal delivery & review, binding, and orientation.
- Assign new business opportunities to team members as they are received.
- Review responses to RFP’s and provide final sign-off on all new business proposals.
- Keep the insurance services team apprised of all ongoing new business opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Training & Experience
- University degree or equivalent experience
- Insurance industry designations such as CIP/FCIP, CRM, RPLU
- 8+ years of relevant work experience in commercial insurance in underwriting or brokering
- RIBO licensed or willing to obtain
Hours of Work
- Monday-Friday 8:30am-16:30 EST
Working Conditions
- Working at a computer for majority of the day.
- Hybrid working model.
- May be required to attend after-hours functions/meetings, and occasionally work after hours.
- Some inter and intra-provincial travel required—Subscriber visits, presentations, conferences, and courses.
