Duties and Responsibilities

Design and Content Creation

  • Develop, inform, and implement impactful concepts and campaigns. Manage the design and implementation for digital and print marketing collateral, including brochures, newsletters, annual reports, external reports, toolkits, website, social media, ads, and other design material. Copywriting as needed. 
  • Provide support to production of HIROC’s digital newsletters, working with the Communications Specialist and Coordinator.
  • Development of print and digital brand elements (letterhead, stationary) and promotional materials.
  • Prepare material for printing and proofing. Submit print-ready files to vendors following established guidelines.
  • Use trends and analytics to inform design concepts, while adhering to and maintaining HIROC's established brand identity.
  • Responsible for maintaining a library of brand assets internally.
  • Collaborate with third-party organizations, contracted designers, partners, and other vendors as required to ensure quality and adherence to HIROC’s brand identity standards.
  • In collaboration with team and strategy, pitch concepts for targeted campaigns on all social channels. Develop storyboards, plan, and execute interactive content.
  • Research and remain current on graphic design trends and software, ensuring copyright and privacy laws are adhered to.
  • Work with internal clients on proposed changes to the external website, create plans and work with Communications and Performance Excellence & Information Services teams on implementing changes that reflect client needs and adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Internal Communications

  • Work with Communications and Marketing team on internal communications initiatives and events.
  • Support intranet brand identity – providing imagery, developing templates, and guiding look and feel.
  • Support the refinement of both internal and external presentations (PowerPoint, etc.).  
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and deliver a range of thoughtful, accurate, visually compelling, marketing materials for both print and online, within the context of budgets and project deadlines.
  • Support all internal teams with brand resources and training. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Events, Marketing Projects and Team Admin

  • Collaborate with Communications and Marketing team to plan and execute HIROC exposure at partner and industry events (in-person and virtual).
  • Assist with event planning and preparation.
  • Assist with development of marketing materials to promote programs and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Attributes Required

  • A portfolio that demonstrates creativity, high-quality design and effective communication
  • Strong copywriting skills, attention to detail; committed to producing quality communications materials. Demonstrated experience in writing creative copy for social media and websites.
  • Solid understanding of web metrics, digital analytics, and ability to generate, analyze, and interpret data, as well as A/B testing
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with minimal supervision
  • Openness to feedback. Regularly seeks out feedback to ensure user needs (internal and external) are being met
  • Excels at customer service. At ease dealing with employees inside the organization and stakeholders/suppliers outside the organization
  • Skilled at making presentations and pitches
  • Upgrades skills to meet the evolving needs of the Communications and Marketing Department through training, online communities, professional literature, continuing education, and conference attendance
  • Strong project coordination and issue management skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize activities to meet objectives

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred (some travel required)

Education, Training & Experience

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of professional experience that includes graphic design, copywriting, social media, web maintenance, and digital marketing
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Illustration experience considered an asset
  • Remains current with graphic design software skills and industry trends
  • Experience with social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and TikTok
  • Knowledge of website CMS (Drupal), Microsoft Dynamics, MailChimp, Google Analytics
  • Experience with photography, audio and video production, considered an asset
  • Consideration will be given to candidates who have an equivalent mix of education, experience and expertise
