Reporting to the Director, Communications and Marketing, HIROC’s Communications and Marketing Intern will create compelling materials that directly influence our programs and position the department as a valuable asset to the organization. 

About the Role

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for supporting coordination of a specific project, ranging from creating project briefs, copywriting, and graphic design. You will provide research support, including organizing data and presenting findings. You will be responsible for developing a communications and marketing plan that will help grow the business. Additionally, you will use historical data to uncover trends in our brand, and present recommendations based on your learnings. You will have the opportunity to connect with and learn from numerous colleagues across the organization. The internship will give you a great understanding of HIROC’s corporate culture, while developing the skills to be a future business leader.

About You

You are currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program, such as communications, marketing, design, business/commerce or a related field. You have copywriting and editing skills and a natural eye for great design. You also possess strong computer skills, including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT) – advanced experience with PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite would be assets.

You possess natural leadership and business skills, demonstrated in academic and/or extracurricular activities. You have tenacity and an entrepreneurial spirit, and are passionate about seeking solutions. You have strong communication skills that will enable you to thrive in a challenging and exciting work environment. You enjoy analyzing data and thinking critically to uncover insights that will help influence business decisions. You have a demonstrated track record when it comes to initiative, innovation, and creativity.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; results oriented, with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines; works well independently and as part of a team; excellent problem solving skills, resourcefulness and collaborative nature; present in a professional and positive manner with a “can do” attitude; asks questions and probes effectively to understand project and business needs; possesses a desire to keep up with evolving marketing trends through personal learning, in addition to having an innate curiosity and willingness to evolve.
