Recent Sponsorship Highlights

Recently, HIROC has been extensively involved in the sponsorship of healthcare events including:

• the satellite broadcast of the IHI (Institute for Health Improvement) National Forum on Quality Improvement in Healthcare
• OHA (Ontario Hospital Association) committee participation and presentations at a variety of OHA conferences and workshops
• representation at the annual SAHO (Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations) conference and at the Provincial Health Conference and Exhibition in Manitoba
• participation on the CPSI (Canadian Patient Safety Institute) committee developing a national report on disclosure guidelines and participation on the CCHSA Patient Safety Advisory Committee.

In the past year, HIROC Risk Management staff provided more than 50 presentations focused on the key themes of awareness, current risk management issues and patient safety.

During the course of the year, HIROC staff also participated in:

• a consensus building workshop, 'Ideas into Action: Maternity Care Solutions for Ontario'
• discussions with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and potential pilot site hospitals regarding the Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners Pilot Project
• a research project reference group with the Conference Board of Canada as part of their project, 'Understanding Liability Issues For Interdisciplinary Collaborative Patient-Centered Practice'
• the evaluation of the OHA Patient Safety Service, and
• the evaluation of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute.
