RMSAM™ OverviewHIROC’s Risk Management Self-Appraisal Modules (RMSAM™) form a key part of our risk management services. The modules are based on more than twenty years of Canadian healthcare claims experience, supported by literature, research and case law. The module content is comprised of questions meant to challenge organizations to examine their policies and practices against Canadian claims experience and leading practice. The modules are available in an easily accessible web-based format.

Online Self-AppraisalIn Year One, the organization completes the self-appraisal modules online. The module questions that have an identified response of “No” or “Partial” require an action plan or explanation that outlines the current or proposed plan that addresses potential gaps in process, policy or standards. Any proposed action plans must identify a target completion date and the individual(s) assigned the responsibility for the action plan. Only these questions where their response was either “No” or “Partial” are submitted to HIROC. Click on image to view full size.
Organizational Roll-Up
HIROC’s Risk Specialists review the first year report and provide feedback on the proposed action plan or explanation. For each of the subsequent three years, the process requires the organization to submit its online “Annual Status” report, demonstrating that a process has been undertaken to address the action plan. Once the four-year cycle is over, a new RMSAM™ cycle begins. The RMSAM™ content is regularly updated reflecting new claims experience, any new legislative updates and leading practices.
