Liability Insurance

HIROC provides cost-effective medical malpractice liability insurance for a range of not-for-profit healthcare organizations.

Retroactive Coverage

Unique to HIROC, retroactive coverage applies to most coverage sections of our policy*. HIROC will respond to new claims:

• as long as the incident is being reported for the first time during the policy period;
• the incident did not occur before January 1, 1986; and
• the incident falls under the coverage provided by this policy.

In addition to the above, the clause will also apply:

• if the subscriber did not purchase insurance at the time of the incident, but the coverage will only be up to the limit under this policy; or
• if the subscriber had insurance (whether claims-made or occurrence wording), the policy will apply only in excess of that insurance and only up to the limit of liability under this policy.

*Retroactive coverage applies to all areas of the policy except Non-Owned Automobile and Crime Insurance.

Insurance for Midwives

HIROC provides insurance products and services to meet the unique needs of midwives and midwifery clinics.

Since 2002, HIROC is pleased to provide insurance products and services to meet the needs of midwives and midwifery practice groups.   HIROC is proud to partner with midwives who are an important part of our healthcare system, and to have the following as part of our subscriber group:
