Conference offers 'unparallelled opportunity' for networking with other healthcare providers
Jean Chrétien on the bill for HealthAchieve

There's still time to register for one of the largest healthcare events in the country and a prominent Canadian public figure is now on the bill.

The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) presents HealthAchieve, 'Inspiring Ideas and Innovation,' at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from Nov. 3 to 5.

Last year the event attracted more than 8,000 participants, showcased 330 exhibitors and featured a lineup of prominent speakers. The event celebrates achievements and best practices in Ontario's healthcare system and beyond.

With the theme of 'A World Class Showcase of Achievement in Health Care,' the conference draws on speakers from Canada and around the globe. This year's event promises to be of the same calibre, says Warren DiClemente, vice-president of educational services and operations for the OHA.

"HealthAchieve2008 features the best and brightest minds in healthcare, high-impact keynote speakers together with a host of key opinion leaders, commentators, educators, delegates and exhibitors," says DiClemente.

Former prime minister Jean Chrétien will deliver a speech during the opening session. DiClemente says HealthAchieve is pleased to have Canada's 20th prime minister on the bill.

"One of the most respected world leaders of the past decade, prime minister Chrétien is a captivating speaker who will draw on insights from his extraordinary career, discuss leadership and issues facing today’s organizations," he says.

HealthAchieve2008’s keynote speakers will address topics of interest and importance to the broader health sector and beyond. Speakers include Canada's retired General Rick Hillier, Dr. Mehmet Oz from the 'The Oprah Winfrey Show', Professor Uwe Reinhardt, a leading health policy expert from Princeton University, and Margaret Trudeau.

Dr. Atul Gawande, assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, surgeon, writer and teacher, will lead a discussion on patient safety.

In addition to the educational component of the event and the exhibitors, DiClemente says the chance to make connections with other professionals is a key highlight.

"HealthAchieve also offers delegates a strategic and unparallelled opportunity for networking, which is often cited as the number one reason for attending the show," he says.

"In short, HealthAchieve2008 is a must-attend for anyone in the business of healthcare."
