Chatham-Kent Health Alliance to trial infection control system
HIROC subscriber the only Canadian organization invited to take part in beta program
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has accepted an invitation from rL Solutions to participate in a beta program to improve infection control by implementing a cutting-edge software application called Infection MonitorPro (IMPro).

According to rL Solutions, a provider of healthcare quality and safety software, IMPro is a powerful application designed by healthcare organizations to better detect, manage, prevent and control infection risks, making healthcare safer for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and visitors as well as reducing overall costs.

IMPro has been in development for the past five years in an Australian clinical setting.

Colin Hung, rL Solution’s vice-president of marketing and alliances, said the goal of the beta program is to provide CKHA with a system that will increase infection control practitioner productivity and streamline the management of infection cases.

He adds this should ultimately result in a reduced rate of infection.

"By automating infection surveillance and providing simple data mining capabilities, IMPro will help CKHA eliminate much of the non value-add administrative tasks that an ICP is forced to do. This will allow CKHA to better focus organizational resources on infection prevention and control," Hung said in a news release.

For its part, CKHA, a Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC) subscriber, will pilot IMPro and provide input and feedback towards the system’s ongoing development, working closely with the IMPro team at rL Solutions to fine tune the program in a hospital setting.

"We are extremely pleased to act as the beta site for Canada and to be one of only two clients in North America invited to participate in the beta program for rL Solutions' infection monitoring software," says Carol Turner, CKHA’s infection prevention and control co-ordinator.

"IMPro will help improve the quality of healthcare that we provide and enhance safety through the application of advanced technology."
