Newly formatted HIROC Explorer out this week
Monday November 19, 2007 --
Jason Thompson
HIROC’s quarterly print publication, the HIROC Explorer, has been refreshed and is being delivered to health-care providers across the country this week. The Explorer’s new format is larger and its content focuses on the activities of HIROC subscribers and the movement to create the safest healthcare system.
Anthony Fuchs, HIROC’s marketing and communications manager spoke with HIROC News about the publication, its purpose and its future.
HIROC News: Who are the recipients of the HIROC Explorer?
Anthony Fuchs: The HIROC Explorer is distributed to all HIROC subscribers and select non-subscribers with the aim of keeping them abreast of current happenings within HIROC; new service offerings and products, and issues-oriented content featuring trends and developments within our industry.
HN: What was behind the changes in the HIROC Explorer?
AF: The HIROC Explorer has traditionally been used as more of a marketing publication with an emphasis towards increasing general public awareness of HIROC services. With HIROC now publishing daily news online, it made sense to rethink how we were using the Explorer. We wanted to better leverage the website news content and create a more broadly-based print publication that examined news, trends and partnerships that support HIROC’s vision of “Partnering to Create the Safest Healthcare System.”
I think this new approach allows HIROC to showcase not only its own achievements and issues but also those of our subscribers, in a movement in which everyone has a stake and ultimately supports.
HN: I understand editions of the HIROC Explorer were made available the OHA conference (Nov. 5). What feedback did you receive at the conference?
AF: I’m pleased to say that the HIROC Explorer was enthusiastically received by those visiting the HIROC booth. Clearly it is difficult to read the publication in that type of setting but visitors to the booth remarked that they welcomed this type of publication and looked forward to reading it upon returning to their offices. In many cases, visitors were also HIROC subscribers who will continue to receive upcoming editions of the Explorer in the mail. The tabloid format was quite popular and its design helped to distinguish it from some of HIROC’s other print items. In some cases, attendees saw it, came to take a look and then ended up taking other resource information that they hadn’t originally seen which is exactly what you would hope for at that type of event.
HN: Any thoughts for future editions of the Explorer?
AF: Looking towards the future, HIROC will embrace the opportunity to share this publication with subscribers and use it as a resource for supporting dialogue into the issues that are affecting us all. We look forward to partnering with subscribers to continuously enhance the Explorer so that is meets their ever changing needs while at the same time helping them to make others aware of the trends and challenges that impact healthcare delivery.
